Legendary Ursula

ursula von der leyen european union coronavirus covid-19

But what has really happened here?

On the photograph you can see two out of three heads of the EU institutions: the President of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen on the left, and Charles Michel, President of the European Council, on the right. Only David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament is missing.

But where is he? He is currently at home, at self-isolation. He decided to stay at home after he had spent a weekend in Italy, which is the most affected by the COVID-19 in Europe.

This photograph was taken shortly after a statement issued by von der Leyen and Michel about COVID-19 on Tuesday. The situation is now more and more dangerous: the entire state of Italy is in lockdown, France is the second most affected country in the EU, and several cases of the virus were detected in the EU institutions. Also, David Sassoli decided to transfer the plenary sessions of March and April from Strasbourg to Brussels.
